Sound & Vision Studios: Zoho Books accounts and a self-checking owner dashboard for a five-branch studio

We set up Zoho Books, keep the accounts in it, and built the owners a monthly dashboard that checks its own figures before every release.

About the customer

Sound & Vision Studios is an Indian dubbing and post-production studio working across five branches. Its owners wanted to see the whole business each month in one place, mostly on their phones: sales, studio and talent recording time, profit and loss, cost per minute, people and comparisons with earlier periods.

Upyugo keeps the studio's accounts in Zoho Books, and the owner dashboard we built reads from that work.

The challenge

  1. 01

    No single monthly view.

Management information sat in separate workbooks and reports, so the owners had no one place to see the month.

  2. 02

    Two kinds of revenue.

Operating income in the MIS and invoice-net revenue are measured differently. Put on one chart, they give a false comparison.

  3. 03

Figures that must be right every time.

A dashboard the owners act on cannot ship a wrong number, and it is refreshed every month.

  4. 04

    Sensitive figures.

Some pages hold personal financial data, so each person must see only what their role allows.

What we built

  1. 1

    Zoho Books set-up and accounting.

We set up Zoho Books for the studio and keep its accounts there month by month.

  2. 2

    Zoho People and Zoho Projects.

We worked on part of the Zoho People and Zoho Projects set-up, alongside Zauber Technologies.

  3. 3

    The owner dashboard.

Snapshot, sales, studio time, performance, cost per minute, past performance, profit and loss, history, people and benchmarks, each with a simple and a detailed view, built for phone and desktop.

  4. 4

A release gate of 989 checks.

Every refresh runs 989 automated figure checks, including tie-outs to the source workbooks and payroll. If any check fails, the previous data is restored automatically.

  5. 5

A daily check against Zoho Books.

A scheduled check compares the dashboard's profit and loss with Zoho Books every day, so drift between the two is caught early.

  6. 6

    Login by role, with comments.

No figure sits in the page itself; data is delivered only after login, by role. Owners leave comments, and each round of feedback is built into a later release (for example, a 12-item list in September 2026).

Results

  • Live and in monthly use by the owners, with a weekly refresh of studio time.

  • Every one of the 989 checks passing on the current release.

  • The payroll trend for January to September 2026 reproduces the audited payroll to the rupee.

  • Operating income and invoice revenue are kept apart throughout, so every comparison is like for like.

We have not measured time saved, so we make no claim about it.
